Tony Stewart Makes His Move, Space/Time Continuum Would Have Proceeded As Normal Anyway
To the surprise of no one who's been paying the least bit of attention, the process of Tony Stewart leaving Gibbs in favor of becoming an owner/driver at Haas-CNC began today with JGR finally admitting the inevitable and giving Stewart a release from his contract at the end of the year. Tomorrow comes Stewart's press conference where he'll announce the ownership deal, probably unveil his sponsors (Office Depot and Old Spice), and maybe his second driver and their sponsor.
Guess the rumormongers will have to find something/someone else to talk about for a while.

*sigh*
:( I really hope Smoke isn’t making a mistake that he’s going to regret by this time next year. I’m worried with as musch trouble as NASCAR teams to be having getting and holding onto sponsors, if maybe he’s jumping ship at the wrong time. Dude, your right though, I saw this coming the moment Gibbs switched to the Toys, which I know had alot to do with Tony’s decision to leave.
Better to remain slient and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.

It's really a retirement.
I hope Stewart gets the championship this year, so he can go out on top. He will retire as a driver before Stewart Haas is a good enough team to post a win.

I'm not so sure about that
The Haas teams haven’t contended for any wins, but there’s been a couple of instances where they’ve run halfway decent. They’re using Hendrick engines and chassis, so I wouldn’t think the equipment won’t be all that bad out of the box. If you take skilled, proven race-winning drivers like Tony and possibly Ryan Newman and pair them with good crew chiefs, they should be able to at least challenge for some wins once the teams mesh. I’d be inclined to say it will be a good long while before they can contend for championships, but they should at least be able to win.
