Quoting Yates Racing Driver, Travis Kvapil:
What are you looking forward to heading into Darlington this weekend?
"Darlington definitely ranks up there on my list of favorite race tracks. I've
always enjoyed racing there because it's a challenging race track. It's going to
be a whole new Darlington with a brand new surface. I was able to test a truck
there a few weeks ago which allowed me to get some laps in to give me a little
familiarity with how the track may be like this weekend. I think it's going to
be a great race weekend for us and we're thrilled to have LaFayette Ford as our
sponsor at Darlington. The No. 28 will have a throwback paint scheme reminiscent
to the days when Fred Lorenzen drove the No. 28 LaFayette car. I guess when you
think of throwback race tracks, Darlington is one of those and I think it's
going to be neat to have a 60's-looking car at one of the older tracks in the
sport. I just really enjoy Saturday night racing and this race is so close to
home for us that I'm looking forward to this weekend at Darlington a lot."
Quoting Yates Racing Crew Chief, Todd Parrott:
What's so special about racing at Darlington Raceway for you?
"This weekend we're going to `The Lady in Black' where there is a lot of
tradition associated with Darlington Raceway. Our team is actually going to be
carrying the colors of LaFayette Ford, which is a sponsor from the 60's who was
affiliated with Fred Lorenzen, so our car will have a throwback kind of look to
it as well. It's just a very exciting and fun paint scheme for us to run because
there is so much history associated with the great Fred Lorenzen driving that
car. He had a lot of success at Darlington so I'm expecting nothing less than a
win by Travis (Kvapil) this weekend. It is basically a brand new track since
they have repaved the surface, so we've heard that it's very fast and also
provides a lot of grip. All races at Darlington are exciting, but it's a track
that I've had some success at and I truly enjoy racing there."
